What's going on in Gnooyee class at Cherbourg State School ...

Gnooyee is a class of seven year 5-7 boys who are supported in an Alternative Education Program because they have been identified as being at risk due to a combination of behavioural, educational and attendance concerns. Utilising a future visions perspective this program allows the boys to control and subsequently take ownership of their own educational, behavioural, and social goals. A main part of these initiatives is the cultivation of ?lifeskills? that aid in the development of the boys? confidence and self-reliance so not only can they re-engage education, but ultimately carve out a positive life path. Whilst the students share some similar traits and experiences, the structure of the program allows for strong parental/carer consultation of what constitutes 'lifeskills' for each of the boys. Each of the initiatives outlined below showcase how the boys demonstrate their Strong and Smart belief through their own conceived pillars of strength; strength of the heart, strength in the mind, and strength for the body.
